Girls and young women create the families and communities of the future. Empowered to fulfil their potential, society at large benefits hugely; when they are physically, psychologically and socially attacked, everyone loses. Empowering girls and young women is a key lever to transforming society for the better.

In many countries fantastic young women, brimming with potential, are held back because of exploitation, discrimination and lack of understanding. Tag is committed to supporting them to get the support, advice and assistance to face these challenges and grow to be the creative, knowledgeable and empowered women they deserve to be and their society needs them to be.

Our activities in this area are focused on three main areas:

Our current girls empowerment activities are focused on Kenya and include:We are helping to create or adapt a range of written and electronic resources and a panel of professionals to support these activities.

Water Works for Girls – Introducing rainwater harvesting for clean water, hygiene and sanitation, supporting girls education and empowerment, and agriculture development for families with school age girls.

Hoops for Kids – Teaching life skills to youth at risk through basketball, with a special focus on ensuring girls inclusion and empowerment.

i-tek –Bringing the benefits of information and communications technology to remote and marginalised communities, with emphasis on girls education and empowerment.

Girls and women advocacy centre – Providing a community-wide resource for advice and support on women’s rights and prevention of gender-based violence, focused on girls and young women.
